For this last project of the year, we made emotional masks using paper mache. To do so, we first picked our emotions that we wanted to express. Because I wanted to do an emotion that was bright, but at the same time not as clique as just simply happy, I decided to do happily surprised. We then used an online application to try to identify the major characteristics of a person’s face when they express the emotion we picked. For mine, I decided to put wrinkles at the forehead and near the mouth to emphasis how when a person opens their mouth and widens their eyes (when they get surprised) wrinkles show up at their forehead and mouth. Also, I knew that I had to make my eyes look big and really round when I actually make it to emphasis the show they were in. In addition, I analyzed that when a person opens their mouth from surprise, their cheekbones go up and get really round.
